Vitamin E 400 IU - How it Works

Background

Vitamin E is body’s primary anrtioxidant, used to protect the body from damage from free radicals. Unfortunately, most people do not get the requisite 400-800 IU of vitamin E per day to provide sufficient antioxidant protection. This useful substance has also received a great dela of attention in recent years due to findings from the Journal of the American Medical Association stating vitamin E’s benefit in supporting cardiovascular health.

The form of vitamin E used in our product is known a d-alpha tocopherol. This is the form used most by our bodies, and it differs greatly from the artificial form known a dl-alpha tocopherol. It is important to note that the dl-form is artificial and, unlike many other supplements, is not at all similar to the natural form. Synthetic vitamin E is not as biologically active, and studies have indicated that synthetic vitamin E does not stay in the body as long natural vitamin E, making it much less effective.

ConsumerLab.com, New Product Review: Multivitamin and Multimineral Supplements, Posted 4/1/09

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found that manufacturing problems have been associated with dietary supplements. Products been recalled because of microbiological, pesticide, and heavy metal contamination, and because they do not contain the dietary ingredients they are represented to contain, or they contain more or less than the amount of dietary ingredient claimed on the label.
