Vitamin E in a base of d-beta, d-gamma, and d-delta tocopherols.
Vitamin E is body’s primary anrtioxidant, used to protect the body from damage from free radicals. Unfortunately, most people do not get the requisite 400-800 IU of vitamin E per day to provide sufficient antioxidant protection. This useful substance has also received a great dela of attention in recent years due to findings from the Journal of the American Medical Association stating vitamin E’s benefit in supporting cardiovascular health.
The form of vitamin E used in our product is known a d-alpha tocopherol. This is the form used most by our bodies, and it differs greatly from the artificial form known a dl-alpha tocopherol. It is important to note that the dl-form is artificial and, unlike many other supplements, is not at all similar to the natural form. Synthetic vitamin E is not as biologically active, and studies have indicated that synthetic vitamin E does not stay in the body as long natural vitamin E, making it much less effective.
Suggested Usage: As a dietary supplement, take 1 or more softgels daily with food, or as directed by a physician.
The upper limit of vitamin E is 1500 IU per day.
Individuals on anticoagulant therapy (blood thinners) or individuals who are vitamin K deficient should not take alpha-tocopherol supplements without close medical supervision because of the increased risk of hemorrhage.
A number of medications may decrease the absorption of vitamin E, including cholestyramine, colestipol, isoniazid, mineral oil, orlistat, sucralfate, and the fat substitute, olestra.
Anticonvulsant drugs such as phenobarbitol, phenytoin, or carbamazepine may decrease plasma levels of vitamin E.
