BPA has been a health concern for several years now, and now that the FDA has finally recognized “some concern” with BPA a few days ago, the states of Washington and Wisconsin have joined Connecticut and Minnesota in passing statewide measures banning the sale of plastic containers with BPA. The FDA had previously concluded that FDA was safe last year, but after public outcry and much talk about the dangers of BPA, they have recently changed their stance, and states are taking matters into their own hands by banning the substance themselves.

Bisphenol A, or BPA, is a xenoestrogen, a known endocrine disruptor, meaning it disturbs the hormonal messaging system in our bodies. Synthetic xenoestrogens are linked to breast cancer and uterine cancer in women, decreased testosterone levels in men, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and are particularly devastating to babies and young children.
