Chromease™ - How it Works

Background

Chromium is an essential trace mineral involved in helping insulin to metabolize fat, utilize protein and convert sugar into energy.* Two studies conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that the diets of most Americans do not provide the minimum recommended intake (50 mcg) of chromium. Zinc, manganese and magnesium are also intimately involved in glucose metabolism and may be deficient concurrently with chromium.

Foods rich in biologically active chromium — brewers yeast, black pepper and liver — are not consumed in significant quantity. Because soil in the United States often lacks an adequate supply of chromium, significant amounts may not be absorbed by crops or reach the water supply. Food processing and refining can also cause certain foods, including grains, cereals and sugar cane, to lose most of their chromium. The milling of grains can remove up to 83% of the chromium, none of which is replaced during the enrichment process. Therefore, it can be difficult to consume the recommended 50 to 200 mcg of chromium needed every day.

The formula in CHROMEASE offers your patients complete support — biologically active chromium PLUS important synergistic nutrients.

BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE CHROMIUM

Chromease is an ideal supplement because it contains the preformed biologically active chromium C® which is significantly more bioavailable than other forms of chromium. It is the only patented “yeast-free GTF chromium” and is also patented for lowering cholesterol and triglycerides.

TRACE MINERALS

Zinc is involved with the production, storage and secretion of insulin in the pancreas. Manganese and magnesium are cofactors for several enzymes involved with energy production from sugars.

VITAMIN B1

Vitamin B1 is a cofactor for several enzymes involved in the intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates. The requirement for this vitamin increases with increased intake and utilization of carbohydrates.

GLANDULAR SUPPORT

The pancreas gland contains the beta cells of the islet of Langerhans which synthesize the inactive pro-insulin molecule. Upon cleavage of this molecule, insulin is released.

The Need To Consider Quality:

Of the magnesium supplements tested by ConsumerLab.com, 25% failed to meet quality standards. One magnesium supplement contained only 45.4% of labeled amount, despite boasting a "GMP" (Good Manufacturing Practices) seal on its label, and another supplement provided only 28.8% of the labeled amount.

Tests by ConsumerLab.com have found multivitamins that were short on ingredients, failed to dissolve properly, or were contaminated with heavy metals.
ConsumerLab.com, New Product Review: Multivitamin and Multimineral Supplements, Posted 4/1/09

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found that manufacturing problems have been associated with dietary supplements. Products been recalled because of microbiological, pesticide, and heavy metal contamination, and because they do not contain the dietary ingredients they are represented to contain, or they contain more or less than the amount of dietary ingredient claimed on the label.
