Study shows pine bark reduces jetlag
|
|
A new study released in the journal of Minerva Cardioangiologica found
that Pycnogenol, a pink
bark extract with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
properties (an ingredient also included in
Multissentials Complete Wellness Formula), reduces jetlag in airplane
passengers by almost 50% without any side-effects. The study found that Pycnogenol
helped lower symptoms of jetlag, including fatigue, headaches,
insomnia, and brain swelling in both healthy individuals as well
as those with high blood pressure. This news is great for the
upcoming holiday travel season, as people now have a natural
alternative for reducing the irritable symptoms of jetlag. |

Four Out Of Five Physicians Recommend Supplements: CRN Poll
|
|
A recent survey by the Council for Responsible Nutrition
(CRN) found that 79% of physicians and healthcare
professionals recommend dietary supplements for their
patients. This helps backs the AMA's (American Medical
Association)
recommendation in 2002 that all adults should take a
multivitamin daily because of "the known and suspected
benefits" of certain supplemental vitamins
"in preventing cardiovascular disease, cancer, and
osteoporosis" (quoted from source). Its great to see that physicians and
healthcare professionals are finally starting to come to a
consensus regarding the health benefits of taking certain
dietary supplements, and that preventative nutritional
measures are becoming more mainstream in today's healthcare
system. |

Is Your Drinking Water Giving You Diabetes?
|
|
Studies related to the quality of drinking water have
recently noted the possibility of a correlation between the
heavy metal arsenic, present in the public water supply and
drinking water wells, and an increase in the risk of being
diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Arsenic has been known to cause
many types of cancer as well as other harmful diseases, and is
now being attributed to a risk of type 2 diabetes. One of the
few companies that sells water treatment products to remove
arsenic from water is
K2O Consulting. Water treatment plants should consider
utilizing these new arsenic removal technologies to protect the
public from the dangers of arsenic.

Osteoporosis Drugs Found to Cause
Severe Pain in Muscles, Joints and Bones
|
|
A new warning issued by the FDA states that a popular class
of osteoporosis drugs may lead to severe, chronic and even
permanent pain in muscles, joints and bones. The risks from
the drug class known as bisphosphonates have been known by
the FDA since their approval, and thus prescribing
instructions for doctors warn of the possibility of severe
pain. Natural alternatives exist that support bone health,
such as Glucosamine and MSM.

New Research Shows Avoiding Rays May Lead to a Vitamin D
Deficiency
|
|
New research suggests that people who regularly use
sunscreen and avoid sunlight may be on the path to Vitamin D
deficiency. Vitamin D is produced most efficiently in the
skin when exposed to direct sunlight. Now, the
recommendation is to get 15 minutes of sun during peak times
(11 am – 4 pm), three times a week to help avoid Vitamin D
deficiency.

Health Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds
|
|
When we think of Pumpkins, we tend to think of Halloween
Jack O’lantern’s, and Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pies. Most people
discard the seeds, which is unfortunate because research has
revealed much about the health-enhancing properties of
pumpkin seeds. The seeds pack a powerful nutritional punch,
delivering important minerals, vitamins, essential oils,
phytosterols, and essential Omega fatty acids. Some studies
suggest that the nutrients found in pumpkin seeds may help
men with BPH, and may reduce the size of an enlarged
prostate. Pumpkin Seed powder is one of the key ingredients
found in
Gratify for Him, and is part of the product's
proprietary blend that supports a healthy prostate. |
